Prerequisites and Starting Point
- Reach the Scorned Wilderness region, which was added alongside the Scorned Wilderness quest: Regicide.
- Locate The Hub, a new area within the Scorned Wilderness which players can build in.
- Note that the Raid area does not permit building, because of the big dragon.
- Gather your party and prepare to step forward into RuneScape: Dragonwilds alone, or with up to 3 friends.
- Expect a high-end challenge: a Raid is typically pitched against a player or groups, subjecting you to a gauntlet as you fight for a foothold.
- If you want to prepare beforehand, the June 2025 update expanded the Magic Skill Tree and added additional building pieces including the Palisade Walls for protecting against Base Raids, which were rebalanced and tuned down based on player feedback.
Ordered Route Through the Scorned Wilderness
- Traverse the vast and diverse land: from the mournful ruins of Brynmoor, whose serene peace is often shattered by the roar of dragons, to the Stormtouched Highlands where lightning strikes relentlessly and swiftly.
- Continue from the realm of Death called Fellhollow, to the dark and sinister fortress of Dowdun Reach.
- Traverse the Umbral Sands, a corrupted desert with unrelenting heat and a fiery Red Dragon ruling over it.
- Earn the trust of unusual allies and carve your way into the heart of the desert to bring down the final Dragon General.
- Take on the Scorned Wilderness Raid and fight the Dragon Queen herself, traversing floating islands and fighting through attacks by the God-Eater to reach her.
- Hold out against onslaughts of enemies as you fight for a foothold, since every inch of ground gained is a victory in itself, and ultimately rise to the challenge to earn the right to challenge the boss.
- Fight through the landscape that was ripped apart by wild anima and the fury of Black Dragons, with your cadre of adventurer allies if you so wish.
Completion, Rewards, and Recovery
Shipping into 1.0 is a major milestone because it concludes the Kuldra Saga with the players going into the Scorned Wilderness raid and defeating her.
Each of her tyrannical, terrible heads channels the fury of Gielinor's dragons, but she is more than the sum of her parts. Those who have slain countless Dragons on the Gielinor mainland will recognise some of her attacks, and she shares heritage with other Dragonkin experiments.
Disordent Residue is dropped by enemies during the Raid, giving you a drop to collect as you push through the encounter.
The developers have made a conscious choice NOT to spoil the Raid, so expect to learn its mechanics by playing rather than from advance detail. They will share more about their work towards release, including their process for finding and fixing bugs and the changes being delivered to combat and movement from minute one, but the Raid is something else entirely.
If you want to prepare before the Raid, you can take on the Dragon Queen and her brood and reclaim the land of Ashenfall from their sinister clutches, and use the Nintendo Game Chat feature to stay in touch as you explore the continent and level up your skills.
The term Raid is used deliberately: for those chasing Twisted Bows, ending up at the toothy end of Zebak, or who've earned the scars from the Liberation of Mazcab, RuneScape Raids mean something, and the developers agree.
