Before You Enter the Raid

  • Treat this as end-game content: Kuldra, the God-Eater, is the new end-game boss added with the Scorned Wilderness.
  • Expect a raid structure. A raid is a high-end challenge pitched against a player or group, with unique mechanics or combat challenges testing your survival skills as you fight for a foothold, and ultimately you earn the right to challenge the boss.
  • Know the arena: the Scorned Wilderness includes "The Hub", a new area players can build in, and the Raid area which does not permit building because of the big dragon.
  • Bring the best armor, weapons, and food. The Calder Raid is the pinnacle content of the 1.0 release, and if you are brand new you will want to spend a lot of time in Dragonwilds before you are ready.
  • Use the Nightmare Crucible to earn upgrade materials that power up your favourite weapons from lower Power Levels to max level so you can face Kuldra.
  • Gear available from the Umbral Sands region includes Adamant Armour, Red Dragonhide and Infinity Robes, plus additional vestiges including Obsidian Armour, the Obsidian shield and the Fire Cape.
  • The Scorned Wilderness quest Regicide was added alongside the region.
  • Base protection matters if you are raided: Palisade Walls were added for protecting against Base Raids and have been rebalanced and tuned down based on player feedback.

Reading Kuldra's Attacks and Phases

  1. Traverse the floating islands. The raid pits you and your cadre of adventurer allies, if you wish, against a landscape ripped apart by wild anima and the fury of Black Dragons, and you fight through attacks by the God-Eater herself to reach her.
  2. Expect multi-head pressure. Each of her tyrannical, terrible heads channels the fury of Gielinor's dragons, and she is more than the sum of her parts.
  3. Use your Dragon knowledge. If you have slain countless Dragons on the Gielinor mainland you will recognise some of her attacks; she shares heritage with other Dragonkin experiments but is more than that.
  4. Parry the attacks you can read. Parrying restores 50% of your max stamina, letting you quickly turn the tide with a burst of energy if you time it correctly, which increases the risk and reward of timing it just right.
  5. Choose your follow-up after a successful parry. The camera and parry allow Visceral Attacks, a follow-up attack you can do when you successfully parry an enemy, but the attack is optional: you can dodge, make a run for it, or throw in a Weapon Special Attack instead in that moment.
  6. Watch for Kuldra's Wrath as part of the encounter's added tools and threats.

Punish Windows, Drops, and Recovery

Your safest damage window is the moment after a successful parry. Parrying restores 50% of your max stamina, so you can convert a well-timed parry into a burst of energy and pressure rather than backing off.

Treat the Visceral Attack as optional. After a successful parry, choose the follow-up, dodge, run, or use a Weapon Special Attack according to your stamina and position.

If an attempt goes badly, fall back on the raid structure: you fight for a foothold, and every inch of ground gained is a victory in itself before you earn the right to challenge the boss.

Killing Kuldra will ensure you get a drop: the Dragon Kiteshield, and then a Cape to wear with pride. In a slight deviation from previous iterations, this shield will not be a Dragonfire shield as you had in previous Dragon Generals.

If you are still gearing up, remember that the Calder Raid is the pinnacle content of the 1.0 release and you will want the best armor, weapons, and food before committing.
